Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR should be taken with food. Take it regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit. Your doctor will decide what dose is best for you and this may change from time to time according to how it is working according to your blood sugar levels.
Keep taking this medicine, even if you feel well or your blood sugar levels are controlled. If you stop it without consulting your doctor, your blood sugar levels could rise and put you at risk of kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems and loss of limbs. Remember that it is only part of a treatment program that should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor. The most common side effect of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR is low blood glucose levels (hypoglycemia). Make sure you recognize the signs of having low blood glucose levels, such as sweating, dizziness, headache, and shaking and know how to deal with it. To prevent this, it's important to have regular meals and always carry a fast-acting source of glucose such as sugary food or fruit juice with you. Drinking alcohol can also increase your risk of low blood sugar levels and should be avoided. Other side effects that may be seen on taking this medicine include taste changes, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, edema (swelling), blurred vision, bone fracture, and upper respiratory tract infection. Some people may find that they put on weight with this medicine.
You should not take it if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus, if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (high levels of acid in your blood), or if you have severe kidney or liver disease. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had heart disease. It may not be suitable. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Your blood sugar levels should be checked regularly and your doctor may also advise blood tests to monitor your blood cell counts and liver function.

Kidney
UNSAFE
Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
What if you forget to take Vriglim-VG Tablet SR?
If you miss a dose of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. What is Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR?
Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR is a combination of three medicines: Glimepiride, Metformin and Voglibose. This medicine is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). It improves the blood glucose levels in adults when taken along with proper diet and regular exercise. Glimepiride lowers the blood glucose levels by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas. Metformin works by lowering the glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor which lowers the postprandial (after meals) glucose levels in the body. This combination is not indicated for the treatment of Type 1 DM.

The use of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR is associated with common side effects like hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level), nausea, diarrhea, altered taste, flatulence, stomach pain, headache, skin rash and respiratory tract infection.

The use of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR should be avoided in patients with known allergy to any of the components or excipients of this medicine. The use of this medicine is also avoided in patients with moderate to severe kidney disease and in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulcerations and underlying metabolic acidosis including diabetic ketoacidosis.

No, it is not safe to take Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR along with alcohol. It may lower your low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) and can increase the chances of lactic acidosis.
Q. Can the use of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR cause hypoglycemia?
Yes, the use of Vriglim-VG 2 Tablet SR can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level). Symptoms of hypoglycemia include nausea, headache, irritability, hunger, sweating, dizziness, fast heart rate, and feeling anxious or shaky. It happens more often if you miss or delay your food, drink alcohol, over-exercise or take other antidiabetic medicine along with it. So, regular monitoring of blood sugar level is important. Always keep glucose tablets, honey or fruit juice with you.
