Why was Ni Hao, Kai-lan canceled? ›

There was a very expensive lawsuit claiming that the show was similar to Dora the Explorer. Unfortunately, Kai Lan was cancelled and will not be making any more new episodes.

A six-year-old girl named Kai-lan, who invites friends at her home to share in the colorful interplay of Chinese and American cultures, as well as the Mandarin language, through interactive exercises and magical stories.

Kai-lan's most-important relationship, though, is with Yeye, her grandpa ("yeye" is Mandarin for grandfather).

Kai-Lan (voiced by Jade Lianna Peters) is a playful and adventurous 6-year-old Chinese-American girl and the host of the show with a big heart.

With the thank-you party now in ruins, Kai-Lan begins to cry. Rintoo, Tolee, and Hoho return with the stuff and hear Kai-Lan sobbing. Pondering why she's sad, the trio and the viewers recall that it got windy and everything for the party got messed up, helping them realize the true motive for Kai-Lan's sadness.

There's a big difference between them; Kai-Lan teaches Chinese instead of Spanish, and the animal characters are nothing like Dora's animal friends. Even though Kai-Lan does ask the audience dumb questions at times, similar to Dora, she handles her fourth wall breaking in a more tasteful manner than the latter.

Hoho begins to scream and complain about how he hadn't gotten anything he wanted. He then becomes so angry that he stomps over to Rintoo and hits in his leg before stomping away. Meanwhile, the others check to see if Rintoo's okay.

Basic Information. Hoho is one of the main characters of the series. He is 3 years old and the youngest of Kai-Lan's friends, meaning he goes first in activities.
